Heybike, an electric-bike brand, has introduced a competitively priced adventure ebike called the Alpha. Featuring chunky fat tires, adjustable front suspension, and a mid-mount motor with torque sensor, the Alpha is designed for city riding and beyond.
Heybike emphasizes that the Alpha aims to bridge the affordability and premium features gap. It targets city riders seeking versatility for off-road excursions and avid two-wheel adventurers.
Powered by a Galaxy Perform S eDrive System, the Alpha sports a Galaxy-branded 500-W Mivice X700 mid-mount motor offering pedal-assist up to 28 mph (45 km/h) or throttle-assist up to 20 mph (32 km/h). With 105 Nm (77 lb.ft) of torque and a torque sensor in the bottom bracket for instantaneous motor response, the Alpha promises a thrilling ride. Additionally, a cadence sensor supports the setup.
Heybike suggests that the UL-certified 680-Wh downtube battery can provide up to 60 miles (~100 km) of riding on a single charge, especially at the lowest PAS setting. The ebike features a large color LCD display on the handlebar, Bluetooth connectivity to a mobile app for ride data, and control.
Constructed with an aluminum alloy frame, the Alpha is available in low or high step versions, each equipped with a hydraulic suspension fork. The ebike is reported to be IPX4 weatherproof and boasts a Shimano Altus 8-speed gearset for ride flexibility. Sporting 26-inch rims with knobby 4-inch fat tires, the Alpha excels on varied terrains and is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power.
Weighing 71 lb (32 kg) and capable of carrying up to 400 lb, including the rider, the Alpha comes with a rear rack, lighting, kickstand, and fenders included in the price. Currently listed at US$1,449 with a $50 deposit during the pre-order phase, the Alpha’s shipping information is yet to be announced.
