Alaska Airlines Experiences Website Malfunction During Cyber Monday Sale, Causing Flight Delays

Alaska Airlines faced a technology issue that temporarily grounded flights in Seattle on Monday morning, causing problems with booking flights on its website throughout the afternoon, the airline confirmed.

The Seattle-based airline stated that the technology problem on Monday morning led to a “significant disruption” in its operations, resulting in delayed flights. To address aircraft congestion, the airline requested a 40-minute ground stop at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

No specific details were provided about the technology problem, and the exact cause of the disruptions remained unclear.

A message on the company’s website in the afternoon mentioned difficulties in booking flights via the website, mobile app, and contact center.

“We sincerely apologize to our impacted guests and are actively working to resolve the issue,” the statement read.

The technical issues coincided with the launch of the company’s Cyber Monday flight sale. In response to customer complaints of missed flights, delays, and app/website problems, the airline issued apologies.

In late September, Alaska Airlines flights were halted in Seattle due to significant disruptions caused by an unspecified technology issue.
