Deisy-Suarez Giles’ family, despite losing everything in the ongoing Los Angeles County wildfires, went back to their burned-down home to see the damage. Her two young boys were delighted to find some of their toys in the rubble.
Suarez-Giles, a three-time business owner, shared that they moved to their Altadena, California home due to living above a pharmacy during the COVID pandemic. Someone had tried to set fire to the building one night, prompting their move.
“After COVID, we left downtown LA because of protests and riots. We had to escape as they tried to burn the building where we were staying,” Suarez-Giles explained. “We had to find a new home to keep our family safe. But now, we’ve lost everything once again.”
Suarez-Giles mentioned that their home was a result of hard work and a desire to protect her family.
When the family found out about the fires on Tuesday, they initially hesitated to evacuate, but eventually decided to leave early Wednesday morning to stay safe.
Henry, one of Suarez-Giles’ sons, bravely faced the situation, even though it was heartbreaking for him. He wanted to check on their home and see what had survived the fire.
