The passing of longtime entrepreneur and cybersecurity executive Amit Yoran was announced on Friday after battling cancer.
Tenable, the cybersecurity company where Yoran served as CEO and chairman, confirmed his death in a press release. Prior to his role as CEO at Tenable in 2016, Yoran held various positions such as president of RSA, founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.
In a statement, Tenable’s lead independent director Art Coviello praised Yoran as “an exceptional leader, colleague, and friend.”
Coviello added, “His dedication to cybersecurity, his strategic foresight, and his ability to motivate those around him have influenced Tenable’s ethos and mission. His legacy will serve as our compass as we move ahead.”
Tenable confirmed that Yoran had taken a medical leave of absence starting December 5, with CFO Steve Vintz and COO Mark Thurmond serving as co-CEOs during his absence. They will continue in their roles as the company searches for a permanent CEO.
