Apple announced today that it is expanding its offerings to allow users to create mix sets by integrating the platform with various tools. These tools include Algoriddim’s djay Pro software, hardware platforms AlphaTheta, Serato, inMusic’s Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, and RANE DJ.
This move aims to attract DJs to explore Apple Music’s vast catalog of over 100 million songs and provide aspiring DJs with a chance to experiment with these tools.
Additionally, the company is introducing a new DJ with an Apple Music category page, featuring DJ-friendly editorial playlists, curator pages showcasing DJ software and hardware partners, and mixes for inspiration or practice.
Stephen Campbell, Global Head of Dance, Electronic & DJ Mixes at Apple Music, stated, “Apple Music is committed to supporting DJs. With this latest integration, we’re taking that commitment even further by seamlessly connecting Apple Music with the top DJ software and hardware in the industry. This innovation brings the full capabilities of Apple Music into the creative workflow, making it easier than ever for DJs to access, play, and discover music in real-time.”
Apple noted that since introducing streaming for DJ Mix sets in 2021, the platform has added thousands of sets.
Various music streaming platforms are exploring enhanced tools for music creation and remixing. For instance, SoundCloud recently announced integration with six tools for editing, remixing, and custom sample creation. Similarly, Spotify is reportedly considering introducing tools and subscriptions to empower users to remix songs. Moreover, startups like Hook are working on creating a market for legal remixes through their apps.
