Apple releases list of all apps removed from App Store in U.S. including TikTok.

During the TikTok shutdown, Apple made a rare move by releasing a statement and a support document that listed all the affected apps inaccessible in the U.S. Usually, Apple doesn’t provide information when it blocks apps.

Notable ByteDance apps like CapCut, Lemon8, and Marvel Snap, which have seen a surge in popularity in recent months, are also among the blocked apps. Below is the complete list of apps removed by Apple:

  • TikTok
  • TikTok Studio
  • TikTok Shop Seller Center
  • CapCut
  • Lemon8
  • Hypic
  • Lark – Team Collaboration
  • Lark – Rooms Display
  • Lark Rooms Controller
  • Gauth: AI Study Companion
  • MARVEL SNAP

In the support document, Apple stated that it is complying with the law by blocking these apps.

“Apple is required to abide by the laws in the jurisdictions where it operates. As per the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, apps developed by ByteDance Ltd. and its subsidiaries, including TikTok, CapCut, Lemon8, and others, will no longer be available for download or updates on the App Store for users in the United States starting January 19, 2025,” the company explained.

The document also points out that individuals visiting the U.S. with their App Store set to a non-U.S. region will not be able to update the app or make in-app purchases for these apps.

TikTok and other ByteDance apps were banned following a bill passed the previous year, requiring the company to sell the short video app or face a ban. Last week, the Supreme Court upheld this law, leading Apple and Google to block the app on January 19.
