Arkansas nurse faces charges for allegedly using deceased patient’s identity to buy oxycodone pills

Felony charges have been filed against a nurse in Arkansas for using a deceased man’s name to try and buy oxycodone pills at pharmacies.

Caitlin Carol Adams faces three counts of fraud or deceit to obtain a narcotic drug-forged prescription following multiple drug purchases last month, as reported by KAIT.

According to reports, Adams allegedly used a false prescription to buy 120 oxycodone pills at a pharmacy in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Jan. 2, claiming they were for a patient she cared for in a nursing home.

Investigators revealed that Adams, a licensed registered nurse according to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, used her credit card to make the purchases.

On Jan. 6, Adams returned to the same pharmacy with another prescription for 180 oxycodone pills, but the pharmacy refused to fill it.

The prescription was in the name of a man who was found to have been deceased since Dec. 30 and was a former patient at the same nursing home where Adams had worked.

Adams proceeded to another pharmacy and successfully purchased 180 oxycodone pills under the deceased man’s name.

She was apprehended on Jan. 24, taken into the Craighead County Detention Center, and later released on a $25,000 bond pending arraignment on March 20.

Adams’ nursing license is currently under investigation.
