Arlo’s monthly subscription prices are increasing once more

Arlo has recently raised the monthly subscription prices for its smart home cameras’ Arlo Secure cloud storage plan. The new charges are $9.99 per month (increased from $7.99) for storing recordings of a single camera and $19.99 per month (up from $17.99) for unlimited cameras. Both plans are now named Secure Plus.

With the cheapest plan now at $9.99 per month, it is more than three times the original $2.99 monthly fee Arlo previously charged for cloud storage of a single camera. The price was increased to $4.99 in early 2023, then to $7.99 last year. Opting for annual billing retains the $7.99 per month rate for the single-camera plan and effectively makes the unlimited-camera plan $17.99 per month with yearly payment.

Arlo’s annual pricing is a little cheaper per-month.

This recent price adjustment follows Arlo’s introduction of new AI-powered features in September. These features allow users to label specific individuals or vehicles captured by the camera and receive notifications about them, as well as train the cameras to identify and alert about events such as a sprinkler activation or garage door opening. Additionally, the company has extended the storage of recordings from 30 to 60 days.

Arlo has granted some users the option to retain their previous rate by switching to an annual plan, as indicated in a screenshot shared on the Arlo subreddit.

Users can still access free storage by using Arlo Base Stations and SmartHub devices compatible with their cameras. However, this approach means missing out on certain subscription-only features that enhance the appeal of smart cameras, such as package detection.
