Beacon Hill Fort Hosts Vibrant Summer Art Exhibition


Larain Briggs and Jamie Limond are both fine art professional doctorate students who are nearing the completion of their year at East London University.

They displayed their artwork at the Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre in February 2024.

Larain’s exhibition included a maze, which was a “labyrinth of mirrors” inspired by numerous contemporary and old philosophers on the issues of the “meta crisis and transcendence”.

Jamie’s included the ancient craft of spoon carving, and a video called ‘The Patient’, which included clips of his circumnavigation of the UK and Ireland by boat.

Showcase – Jamie Limond’s artwork being shown in June ​ (Image: Submitted) Both Larain and Jamie are developing new bodies of work through practice-based research, showcasing their latest work in London in June.

The pair are also the co-founders of the Aletheia Art Collective, which will present Seasaw – a new group exhibition at Beacon Hill Fort.

The exhibition will take place from August 23-31 bringing together artists who are “responding to the sea” and the “rhythm of slow-changing events”.

Her studio will be open to the public, giving residents chance to meet artists in their creative environments.
