Biden Delegates Share Convention Plans Amid Calls to Replace President on Ticket

Despite increasing calls from elected Democrats for him to step aside in the upcoming 2024 election, President Biden retains support from Democratic delegates, including those who plan to vote for him at the party’s convention next month.

Multiple delegates dismissed the idea of Vice President Kamala Harris replacing Biden, emphasizing their belief in the president and vice president working as a cohesive team.

“I think he did an awesome job last night. I really do,” said Joanne Chesley, a pledged Biden delegate from North Carolina. “His clarity and his spontaneity … just well-informed responses. I was super impressed.”

Regarding Biden’s suitability for the role, Chesley expressed concern but ultimately stands by her support for the president, citing his care for the country as a driving factor in her decision.

Like Chesley, other delegates reiterated their support for Biden and Harris as a team and emphasized the importance of choosing the best option for the country at this critical time.

“I mean, we are all-in with the president until he indicates, or if he indicates, that he makes a different decision.”
