The world’s most famous jockey Frankie Dettori has disclosed that he will be declaring bankruptcy.
The renowned Italian, who has achieved success in winning numerous Group One races globally, has admitted to facing financial difficulties with HMRC.
In a statement, Dettori stated: “Over the past six months, my advisors have been in discussions with HMRC to find a resolution to my financial issues. Unfortunately, I will be seeking bankruptcy protection.
“I am disheartened and ashamed of this outcome and urge others to take control of their financial matters.
“Bankruptcy is a significant decision and the repercussions will impact me for many years to come.”
The 54-year-old has reconsidered his decision to retire from racing in 2023 and has continued to ride full-time in the USA.
