Samsung announced on Wednesday that it is incorporating Google’s Gemini AI into its home robot Ballie through a collaboration with Google Cloud. Users will now have the ability to interact with the robot by asking various questions and receiving responses from Gemini, according to the companies.
Samsung is looking to utilize Gemini’s multimodal capabilities for its robot. The Korean technology powerhouse mentioned that it will combine its own AI with Google’s to allow Ballie to process audio and video inputs to provide answers to different inquiries. For example, users can inquire about their appearance and receive outfit recommendations utilizing the camera and visual intelligence of the robot.
In addition, Ballie will be able to leverage Gemini to offer health-related suggestions such as workout recommendations and tips for better sleep. Furthermore, users can ask the robot a variety of general knowledge questions.
“Through this collaboration, Samsung and Google Cloud are transforming the role of AI in households,” stated Yongjae Kim, EVP of Samsung’s visual display business. “By combining Gemini’s robust multimodal reasoning with Samsung’s AI capabilities in Ballie, we are harnessing the potential of open cooperation to introduce a new era of personalized AI companion – one that moves alongside users, foresees their needs, and interacts in more dynamic and meaningful ways than ever before.”
Samsung has been showcasing different iterations of Ballie at events like CES for several years. Earlier in 2025, the company announced that the robot would be available to consumers in South Korea and the U.S. in the first half of the year.
Samsung had previously collaborated with Google to integrate Gemini into its Galaxy series smartphones, beginning with the Galaxy S24. Samsung and Google are also reportedly collaborating on an XR device, with Gemini potentially playing a central role in that experience.
