Patty Morin criticized Van Hollen for advocating for criminals rather than supporting victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants, like her daughter. She believes that Van Hollen’s actions reveal his character.
“It just shows his character. You know a man by the words that he speaks, but also by his actions or lack of actions,” Patty Morin said in an interview.
Despite the passage of over a year since her daughter’s murder, Patty Morin claimed that Van Hollen has not contacted her and stated that she would be willing to speak with him if he did.
Van Hollen’s Statement on Rachel Morin’s Killer
Van Hollen issued a statement following the conviction of Rachel Morin’s killer, expressing his gratitude towards law enforcement for delivering justice. He emphasized the need for immigration reform while also supporting immigrant communities.
Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal alien. His meeting with Garcia took place after his flight to El Salvador.

A 29-year-old illegal immigrant living in Maryland, Garcia was deported to El Salvador but is now facing potential release and return to the US for deportation proceedings. Domestic violence allegations against Garcia have also surfaced.
Patty Morin criticized Van Hollen for using taxpayer money to advocate for a criminal and questioned the funding of his trip to El Salvador.
