Mary Lee Baylock, former senior vice president at Berkshire Hathaway affiliate HomeServices of America, has been appointed as president of brokerage at Sotheby’s International Realty, the firm announced on Monday.

Blaylock will be in charge of the luxury brand’s company-owned brokerage operations, overseeing 48 U.S. offices with over 2,300 affiliated agents who completed $20 billion in sales volume in 2024. She aims to improve local market positioning and drive long-term growth at Sotheby’s Realty.

“I have always admired Sotheby’s International Realty at every stage of my career,” Blaylock stated. “The brand has been a leader in client representation and luxury home marketing globally. The reputation of the advisors at Sotheby’s International Realty is unmatched, and I am excited to bring my expertise and passion to serve them.”

Sotheby’s International Realty President and CEO Philip White mentioned that Blaylock’s experience will propel the firm forward.

“Mary Lee’s extensive industry knowledge, proven leadership track record … and ability to build strong relationships will drive our company-owned brokerage operations to new heights,” White said. “Our agents will benefit from her strategic vision, hands-on approach, and commitment to our high standards to enhance our advisors’ service and transactions for clients.”

HomeServices of America has not responded yet to Blaylock’s move.

With over 30 years of residential real estate experience, Blaylock previously served as the senior vice president at HomeServices of America and president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties. She was instrumental in launching the brand’s National Luxury Division and overseeing 56 offices, 350 employees, and 3,000 agents.

About a week ago, Gino Blefari, HomeServices’ former president and CEO, retired into an advisory position within the company. Chris Kelly, who was the executive vice president, has now assumed the role of CEO. This transition happened after rumors of Compass potentially acquiring Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. HomeServices of America denied these claims.

Blaylock has been recognized as one of the 100 most powerful leaders in residential real estate by the Swanepoel Power 200 and was inducted into the RISMedia Hall of Fame in 2023.
