Car Theft Ends in Crash at Colorado Springs Business

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Crooks appear to have tried and failed to break into a cannabis shop overnight.

Police say the suspects drove a stolen car into the Magnolia Road storefront.

“Officers would arrive on scene and observed a vehicle that had backed into the business and had broken through front door,” a CSPD lieutenant said of what police found when they got to the area of South Academy and Astrozon early Tuesday morning.

According to a sergeant, the suspects broke the front door but were unable to get through a secondary door and ultimately left empty-handed. The suspects ditched the car before leaving; police say the vehicle was stolen but hadn’t been reported yet. They did not release the make and model.

Despite not getting away with any cash or merchandise, a sergeant tells 11 News the suspects may have caused as much as tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the building.

The case is being investigated as a burglary. No suspect information has been released.
