Caroline Dubois is determined to conquer every major lightweight championship in the next year.
Her quest for world supremacy begins this Saturday as she defends her WBC belt against Jessica Camara of Canada, with the fight broadcast live on Sky Sports.
This will be Dubois’ first title defense since being upgraded from Interim to full world champion just last month.
“Jessica Camara is a tough opponent, determined to win,” Dubois told Sky Sports News. “But I believe I am the superior fighter with greater heart and desire. This is only the beginning of my journey.”
Dubois aims to achieve undisputed status by the end of the year, which involves defending her WBC title against Camara and then pursuing fights for other championship belts.
Terri Harper holds the WBO title, and Olympic silver medalist Beatriz Ferreira is the IBF champion. The WBA lightweight belt, previously held by Katie Taylor, is currently vacant.
Dubois is confident that securing all these belts by 2025 is a realistic goal.
“Transitioning from the amateur ranks to the pros, my focus has always been on becoming a world champion,” Dubois explained. “My ultimate goal is to be undisputed and a multi-weight world champion, achieving feats never before seen in women’s boxing.”
“I possess the necessary skills and ability; it’s just a matter of timing and opportunity,” Dubois continued. “I am thrilled for what lies ahead and am committed to reigning as champion for a long time.”
