MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – There was a great opportunity today to learn about the history and culture of Africatown in Mobile.
A culture festival was held at the Africatown Heritage House, where Clotilda the Exhibition is housed. Culture Fest 2025 featured everything from art, entertainment, dancing and vendors.
“The idea behind it is to bring together different aspects of African American culture, whether it is dance, whether it is economy where people are selling things, that’s where the vendors,” said Jessica Fairley with Africatown Heritage House. “We also have the biggest component of it is bringing people to visit the Africatown Heritage House to learn about the history of the Clotilda, which is worldwide history.”
The event was held in conjunction with the History Museum of Mobile and honored Mobile’s unique Black culture.
