Chargers Plan to Add RB Ezekiel Elliott to Practice Squad for Playoff Push

The Los Angeles Chargers have brought in veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott to their practice squad ahead of the NFL playoffs, as reported by FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Prior to the final week of the regular season, Elliott requested to be waived by the Dallas Cowboys. With the Cowboys out of playoff contention, the 29-year-old sought a team with postseason potential.

The Chargers will start the wild-card round by playing the Houston Texans this Saturday.

Under coach Jim Harbaugh’s leadership, the Chargers have emphasized the running game with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. However, injuries have plagued both backs recently.

Elliott and Dobbins, who both played at Ohio State, are familiar with Harbaugh from their college days.

In his return to the Cowboys this season, Elliott primarily served as a backup to Rico Dowdle. He posted career-low stats but brings playoff experience to the Chargers.
