Chiefs player throws punch during game; fans express disbelief as he remains on field while 49ers star is ejected

NFL fans are angry about the officiating in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 28-18 win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Late in the fourth quarter, during the 49ers’ offensive play, a scuffle broke out between the Chiefs’ Bryan Cook and the 49ers’ Trent Williams.

After the play ended, Cook got up from the ground and threw a punch to the side of Williams’ helmet as he was getting up. In retaliation, Williams also punched Cook in the helmet.

The referees threw a penalty flag, but only Williams was penalized for the incident. He was kicked out of the game, while Cook went unpunished despite initiating the altercation.

Although no penalty was called on Cook, there was a penalty against the Chiefs on the same play. Cornerback Chris Roland-Wallace was flagged for a facemask, which offset the penalty against Williams.

Even though the penalties offset each other, Williams’ ejection meant he missed the final three minutes of the 49ers’ defeat.

The 49ers’ record dropped to 3-4 after the loss as they continue to search for stability early in the season.

Brock Purdy struggled passing the ball, completing 17-31 passes for 212 yards with three interceptions. However, he did score two rushing touchdowns on eight attempts.

With this victory after their bye week, the Chiefs extended their record to 6-0, remaining the only undefeated team in the NFL following the Minnesota Vikings’ loss.

Patrick Mahomes now holds a 5-0 record against the 49ers in his career, including two Super Bowl wins.

Despite the win, Mahomes had a subpar performance, throwing for only 154 yards with two interceptions. He also rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Kareem Hunt led the way for the Chiefs, rushing for 78 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

Next week, the Chiefs will aim to maintain their undefeated streak in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, while the 49ers will try to get back on track facing the Dallas Cowboys.
