Switzer, a former child star, was working as a bartender and hunting dog trainer at the time of his death. Despite his Hollywood success as a child, he struggled with odd jobs in his later years. History.com also reported several encounters with the police.
Just before the fatal fight, Switzer was training a dog during a hunting trip for Moses “Bud” Stiltz. When the dog ran away and was returned by a man, Switzer paid a reward and bought the man drinks. Later, Switzer demanded reimbursement from Stiltz, leading to a confrontation.
