Carl Switzer, known for his role as Alfalfa in the “Our Gang” series, met a tragic end at the age of 31 in a fight over $50, which would be $539.36 in today’s money.

“All hell broke loose,” said James Tehrani, author of the book “Alfalfa – The Rascal You Knew, the Character You Never Knew,” in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“There’s more to the story than just the $50,” he added. “I wanted to avoid spreading misinformation and rumors. Hopefully, more details will come to light in the future.”

Switzer, a former child star, was working as a bartender and hunting dog trainer at the time of his death. Despite his Hollywood success as a child, he struggled with odd jobs in his later years. History.com also reported several encounters with the police.

Just before the fatal fight, Switzer was training a dog during a hunting trip for Moses “Bud” Stiltz. When the dog ran away and was returned by a man, Switzer paid a reward and bought the man drinks. Later, Switzer demanded reimbursement from Stiltz, leading to a confrontation.
