Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, who is set to become a U.S. Senator, is advocating for an audit of the Federal Reserve, vowing to actively oppose government spending, and asserting that she will strive to strengthen the border and deport individuals who enter the U.S. unlawfully.
With Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., expected to step down soon to serve as Secretary of State in the new Trump administration, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Moody as his choice to replace Rubio in the U.S. Senate.
Even with some Democrats planning to back the confirmation, Rubio is likely to easily pass the vote.
“One of my key priorities in the Senate is addressing our inflation problem, which has been exacerbated by the Federal Reserve. We must conduct an audit of the Fed!” Moody stated in a post on X.
DESANTIS ANNOUNCES NOMINEE FOR SENATE APPOINTMENT FOLLOWING RUBIO’S EXPECTED RESIGNATION
“As the next U.S. Senator from Florida, I will tirelessly work to reduce government spending and vocally oppose wasteful expenditures,” she mentioned in another post. “Following the example of Florida, this nation needs to cut down on spending and become financially responsible. I anticipate collaborating with DOGE and will exert effort to leave a stronger financial legacy for the next generation of our nation.”
When discussing her responsibility in the confirmation of judges and justices, she specifically cited Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
“As a former judge, I will take my role in confirming judges and justices seriously to ensure that, like Justices Thomas and Alito, they uphold the values and principles of law as envisioned by our Founding Fathers,” she tweeted. “Through the Senate confirmation process, I will guarantee that those who are confirmed are exceptional nominees and understand that it is their duty to interpret the Constitution accurately.”
