Rochester, N.Y. — On Saturday, healthcare workers and community organizations in Rochester will join thousands of working families across all 50 states in a national day of action to demand care—not cuts.
Organizers say the “Families First” mobilization aims to highlight a $4.5 trillion reduction in funding for essential programs, which organizers say will impact healthcare, education, food aid, disaster relief, and immigrant protections.
The event, which will take place outside the Federal Building from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., seeks to expose what participants describe as a “theft from working people.”
Organizers argue that the cuts are designed to benefit billionaires and corporations through massive tax breaks, while also funding mass deportations by ICE.
The rally in Rochester is part of a broader effort to draw attention to the needs of families, including safe schools, food security, climate protection, immigration protections, and universal healthcare.
