CWC Chamber President/CEO Receives Prestigious Honor


Tim James, President and CEO of the Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, was recently honored as Community Advocate of the Year by Mota Enterprises as part of the 5th Annual South Carolina European Business Day Proclamation Ceremony.

The July 25 ceremony celebrated multicultural impact, economic contributions and community leadership.

Also recognized were Flock and Rally (Business of the Year), Emerald Artistry (Creative Business of the Year) and Kasie Whitener (Stellar Educator of the Year).

The South Carolina European Business Day, founded and hosted by Mota Crosslinking Business Academy, is “a milestone that celebrates the strong economic and cultural ties between our state of South Carolina and the European descendant communities,” according to a press release.

Greater CWC Chamber Chair Lindsey Miles released the following statement on the honor for James.

As Chair of the Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, I could not be prouder of our CEO, Tim James, recognized as the 2025 Community Advocate of the Year by the MOTA Business Academy during this ceremony. This honor is a testament to Tim’s unwavering dedication to our business community and his passionate advocacy for the growth and prosperity of our region. Each day, Tim works tirelessly to ensure that every business — regardless of size or

background — feels supported, heard, and empowered. Under his leadership, our Chamber has expanded its reach and strengthened its ability to serve those in need. He is not only a phenomenal leader but also a true cheerleader for Cayce and West Columbia. Tim’s recognition by MOTA, particularly as they celebrate the deep economic and cultural ties between South Carolina and its European-descendant communities, reflects his commitment to inclusive growth and strong regional partnerships. We are incredibly proud of everything he has accomplished.” 

“I have known Tim for years, even during his law enforcement career he has always been known to build partnerships for the greater good of people and the community, this is a well-deserved recognition,” said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

“As a Council member and leader of our Chamber, Tim has helped to set the standard for growing partnerships for people from all aspects of life and business- and bringing communities together,” said West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles.

The ceremony included official readings of the SC Celebrando Black

Business Day Proclamation, authored by MCBA and formally recognized by the Office of the Governor of South Carolina, as well as the Cities of Columbia and West Columbia. Cayce Mayor Elise Partin was the keynote speaker.
