Dana White Criticizes ‘Senseless Inquiry’ Regarding UFC 312 Main Event

When inquiring about the UFC President Dana White’s team “picking fights” for upcoming pay-per-view shows on Tuesdays, caution is advised.

During the UFC 310 broadcast on Saturday, the main and co-main event fights for UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia on February 8 were officially announced.

In the main event, UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis will defend his title against Sean Strickland in a rematch from their January bout where Strickland lost his title in a controversial split decision favoring du Plessis.

The co-main event features another title fight: UFC strawweight champion Weili Zhang defending her title against No. 1 contender Tatiana Suarez.

Reacting to questions about Khamzat Chimaev potentially getting the title shot ahead of Strickland, White was dismissive and avoided elaborating on the decision-making process. Despite previous statements hinting at Chimaev’s chances, White confirmed Strickland’s next fight against du Plessis.

While the preference for a fight with Chimaev was acknowledged by du Plessis, honoring the commitment to Strickland was deemed the right course of action.
