Travis Hunter has been a key contributor to the Colorado football program. As a two-way star, he has played a pivotal role for the Buffaloes team since arriving in Boulder in 2023. His outstanding performance this season led to him winning the Heisman Trophy.
But Hunter’s impact extends beyond his on-field contributions. In a recent appearance on the “Zero 2 Sixty” podcast, Deion Sanders Jr. disclosed that Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner, chooses not to accept any NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) money from Colorado’s collective. Instead, he donates his earnings to support other players on the team.

“Did you know he receives no NIL (money) from the collective?” Sanders said of Hunter. “He’s one of the biggest donors to the collective, meaning he’s paying a lot of others’ NIL on this team … He’s paying at least 10-15 guys’ NIL on the team. He’s donating his own money.”
While the exact figures remain undisclosed, Hunter’s decision to financially support his teammates is truly remarkable. It showcases his altruism and strong commitment to fostering unity and growth within the team.
One last dance for Travis Hunter at Colorado
Following his Heisman Trophy win, Travis Hunter aims to conclude his college football career on a high note. The versatile player expressed his desire to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU before entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
“It’s definitely important, because I started this thing with Coach Prime and Shedeur, and most of the coaches on the coaching staff, so I wanted to finish it off right,” Hunter said. “I didn’t give them a full season my first year, so I’m gonna go ahead and end this thing off right. It’s going to be our last game together, so I’m going to go out there and dominate, and show loyalty that I have for them.
Hunter’s choice reflects his dedication to the team and his determination to leave a lasting impact on the field. In a time when opting out of bowl games has become common among top draft prospects, the standout player is demonstrating an act of selflessness.
Fresh off winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy, Travis Hunter is set to represent Colorado in their Alamo Bowl matchup against BYU on December 28.
