Charles Shyer, known for his work on “Private Benjamin,” “Father of the Bride,” and “Baby Boom,” has passed away at the age of 83.
A representative for Shyer confirmed his death to Fox News Digital on Saturday. His daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer, shared with ex-wife Nancy Meyers, confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that he passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday after a brief illness.
“It’s with an indescribably heavy heart that we share the news of our beloved father, Charles Shyer’s passing,” the Meyers-Shyer family stated with Deadline.
His family expressed, “His loss leaves an unfillable hole in our lives, but his legacy lives on through his children and the five decades of wonderful work he’s left behind. We honor the extraordinary life he led and know there will never be another quite like him.”

In 1979, Shyer co-wrote “Private Benjamin” which received an Academy Award nomination. He later collaborated with Nancy Meyers on successful projects including “Baby Boom” and “Father of the Bride.”
