Discover Where You Can Catch ‘Anora,’ The Award-Winning Film Now Available for Streaming

While some big Oscar nominee sure-things do have theatrical runs, often times they will not show up anywhere near you. As such, I have been waiting for Anora to hit streaming for months now, and it finally has. Though depending on how much you want to pay, you may have to wait a little longer.

Right now, Anora is only available for digital purchase, which means it costs a full $20 on all platforms. You will permanently own it, though I can’t say this is exactly a movie you will probably watch over and over again, as good as it is.

If you want to buy Anora right now, you can head to:

To pick it up, depending on which platform you use the most. You can also wait until it’s available to rent, but sometimes the price won’t come down more than $5 or so, so that would still be $15 here. I would say it’s probably at least two weeks until that happens, but it can vary by movie. Many more weeks later, it will be much cheaper to rent.

As for what streaming service you will be able to watch it for “free” on, that will likely be Hulu, given that they have a deal in place with Neon, meaning the film will be coming there. But that may be a couple months until that happens, and it’s not clear if it will make it there before the actual Oscars.

The critical reception to Anora has been enormously good, the film has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 90% from audiences. It also won the Palme d’Or, a highly prestigious prize. I would expect to see a Best Picture nomination, a Best Director nomination for Sean Baker, a Best Actress nomination for Mikey Madison and Best Supporting Actor for Mark Eydelshteyn. Perhaps Best Original Screenplay and some others. Of those, I think Mikey Madison may be the big winner, though I would not rule out a potential Best Picture win, given the praise it’s gotten. Here is the synopsis of the film:

“Mikey Madison (ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) captivates as Ani, a young sex worker from Brooklyn whose life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and impulsively marries Vanya, the impetuous son of a Russian billionaire. However, when Vanya’s parents catch wind of the union, they send their henchmen to annul the marriage, setting off a wild chase through the streets of New York.”

What I was not expecting was how funny this movie was, as some trailers can make it look like a dark crime thriller. But it’s genuinely hilarious at many moments, in addition to being emotionally gripping. If I had to compare it to the vibe of any other film it would be Uncut Gems, albeit perhaps a bit less stressful than that. Go watch it, I’d say it’s worth $20 to watch with your significant other, so long as you don’t mind nudity even ten minutes or so.
