Ergo Desk with Reclining Feature for Back Pain Relief

Our modern lifestyles involve a significant amount of sitting, but standing desks, while healthier, have their own drawbacks. The innovative Ergo Desk combines both sitting and standing options, along with a reclining feature to help alleviate chronic back pain.

Traditional sitting desks have been the norm in schools and offices for centuries. Standing desks, though currently popular, have been used by historical figures like Dickens and Hemingway in various forms.

Mitch Kahn, an accountant, was inspired to create the Ergo Desk after experiencing chronic back pain from a herniated disk. He found relief by reclining, but realized the challenge of accessing the keyboard and screen in that position, prompting him to design a versatile desk.

The Ergo Desk offers a simple solution: it can transition between sitting, standing, and a 45-degree reclined angle. It features a shelf for the keyboard and mouse on the sloped surface, along with a monitor mount for easy screen viewing. Additionally, there is a section that remains flat for holding items like drinks or decorations.

Kahn ensured that the Ergo Desk met other important criteria, such as practical size for home or office use, attractive design, and affordability. The desk surface measures 48 x 30 inches, with the monitor mount capable of supporting up to 40 lbs (18 kg) – suitable for two 32-inch displays. It is also compatible with other monitor stands.

The Ergo Desk is set to launch on Kickstarter in February, with pre-orders available at a discounted price of US$449. It will come in black, white, and wood tone options, with additional detachable add-ons included.
