ESPN commentators accused of showing bias towards Colorado after Buffaloes suffer lopsided loss in bowl game

The BYU Cougars secured a significant season-ending victory over the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday night, spoiling the perfect sendoff for Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

BYU dominated the Buffaloes in the Alamo Bowl, winning 36-14. L.J. Martin, BYU’s running back, scored two touchdowns and rushed for 93 yards, while Sione I Moa added another touchdown to secure the victory.

College football fans watching the ESPN broadcast of the game were displeased with the spotlight on Colorado, expressing their opinions on social media.

BYU offensive lineman Connor Pay even requested more focus on the team from the broadcasters, according to broadcaster Dave Pasch.

“He walked up out there (the production meeting) yesterday and said to us, ‘Talk about BYU just a little bit, would you?’ Well, we’re talking about Connor Pay, and we’re talking about BYU now,” Pasch said in the fourth quarter with the Cougars leading 33-7, via Awful Announcing. “I’m sure the fans in Provo would love us to talk about BYU the whole night.”

Pasch’s broadcast partner Dusty Dvoracek added that BYU “gave us plenty to talk about.”

Incidentally, Sanders and Hunter from Colorado are expected to be first-round picks in the upcoming draft. Additionally, Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado, has transformed the program into one of the most intriguing in the country.

Sanders mentioned how challenging it is to see some of the players he’s coached for the past few years leave for the next stage of their careers.

BYU concluded the season with an 11-2 record, marking their third 10-win season in the last five years. This success hasn’t been seen since the mid-2000s when they accomplished similar feats multiple times.

Kalani Sitake guided the team from a modest five wins in their first season in the Big 12 Conference last year to 11 wins and a bowl appearance.
