Jalen Hurts is leading the Philadelphia Eagles back into Super Bowl contention, despite facing criticism about a decrease in some of his passing numbers compared to previous years.
Hurts put up 290 passing yards and two touchdown passes in Sunday’s victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sporting a shiny chain, he kicked off his postgame press conference by asking reporters if that’s what they were hoping to see.
Domonique Foxworth, a former NFL defensive back and current ESPN analyst, claimed on Tuesday’s “Get Up” that the lack of criticism for Hurts’ comments after the game was due to “pretty privilege.”
“He stepped up in the press conference after the game, acting like Josh Allen,” Foxworth said. “Look at this guy with his Kangol hat, looking like Nino Brown… with all those diamonds on his neck, behaving as if he had thrown for 400 yards for three consecutive weeks.
“You had one good passing week. And everyone seems to forget that when he turns on the charm.”
Whether due to “pretty privilege” or not, Hurts has propelled the Eagles to the top of the NFC East after 15 weeks.
He has accumulated 2,892 passing yards, 18 touchdown passes, and just five interceptions this season. His completion percentage (69.2%) is the highest of his career, and his 12 wins almost match his 14-1 season as a starter in 2022.
Philadelphia is currently on a 10-game winning streak with three games remaining.
