A section of Business Loop 70 closes as a driving lane starting Thursday, July 3, shifting driving traffic into the turn lane.
The traffic shift and lane closure is between Eastland Circle and Hinkson Creek and is related to the ongoing Improve I-70 project by the Missouri Department of Transportation. There was no timeline for how long the closure and traffic shift will last.
Work is weather permitting and subject to change. The closure is in preparation for the construction of a new roundabout that will connect the Business Loop to eastbound Interstate 70.
MoDOT and its construction partner Millstone Weber previously closed the left-hand westbound I-70 exit in November, clearing the path for that exit bridge’s demolition in preparation of the roundabout construction.
The roundabout construction is part of the greater Columbia to Kingdom City section of the Improve I-70 project. Work started in summer 2024 and is expected to take through 2027 to complete for this project section.
