Texas football just missed landing its biggest recruiting win of the 2026 cycle Friday, as offensive lineman Felix Ojo announced his commitment.
Ojo, a five-star prospect, is the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 7 prospect nationally, according to 247Sports’ composite. He chose Texas Tech over Texas, Ohio State and Florida.
The Longhorns, who lost four starters to the NFL this offseason, had been aggressive in their pursuit of Ojo, seeing him as the heir apparent to former left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. and current left tackle Trevor Goosby.

Ojo could have joined John Turntine III, Max Wright and Nicolas Robertson as the other offensive line prospects in the Longhorns’ 2026 class. Turntine, a four-star lineman from North Crowley, committed on Friday afternoon.
Texas missed out last season on top in-state offensive tackle prospect Michael Fasusi, who signed with Oklahoma. Texas still finished with the No. 1 overall 2025 class. So far in the 2026 cycle, Texas’ class is ranked 11th in the country.
