Data center cooling is a growing market, especially with the rise of Nvidia Blackwell GPUs requiring liquid cooling. Goldman Sachs projects that the server cooling market is expected to grow at a 60.7% compound annual rate from $4.1 billion in 2024 to $10.6 billion in 2026.
This demand has attracted interest from investors and major IT companies like Flex, who recently acquired JetCool to enhance their liquid cooling solutions in IT infrastructure, power distribution, and management offerings.
JetCool MicroConvective Cooling
Flex believes JetCool’s microconvective cooling system offers a significant improvement in heat transfer compared to traditional methods. JetCool’s technology uses fluid jets directed at chip surfaces, making it an ideal cooling solution for platforms like Nvidia Blackwell servers. It already collaborates with Dell, providing cooling for select PowerEdge servers, reducing fan speed by 50% and energy usage by up to 4kW per rack.
Rob Campbell, President of Communications, Enterprise & Cloud solutions at Flex, stated that JetCool was the best candidate for acquisition due to its advanced technology. Flex aims to scale JetCool’s business to meet the growing demand from data center customers.
JetCool offers various cooling products for powerful semiconductors, including fully sealed cold plates and direct liquid-to-chip cooling systems.
JetCool also provides a Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) for precise cooling in racks up to 300kW.
Conclusions
Flex is well-positioned to meet the demand for liquid cooling in data centers by acquiring JetCool and enhancing their cooling solutions. JetCool’s innovative technology should help meet the market demand.
