In Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, voters chose to replace six-term incumbent Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Pa., with Republican Rep.-elect Rob Bresnahan, a young, energetic businessman determined to defend their interests in Washington, D.C.
Bresnahan, 34, attributes his victory to connecting with Pennsylvanians on “kitchen table issues,” such as unaffordable living costs due to rising food and gas prices. Voters felt neglected by the government compared to illegal immigrants receiving benefits, leading to a desire for change.
Raised in Luzerne County and CEO of his grandfather’s construction company, Bresnahan was motivated to enter politics by a concern for the country’s direction. He plans to focus on securing the border, cutting taxes, creating jobs, and supporting law enforcement.
His goals include addressing inflation by lowering energy costs and managing the national debt responsibly. Bresnahan aims to support jobs that don’t require a college degree, improve infrastructure, and maintain U.S. global leadership through a policy of “peace through strength.”
He believes in a balanced approach to foreign aid and emphasizes prioritizing the American people’s needs. Bresnahan aims to bridge political divides by focusing on common-sense solutions and cooperation across party lines.
Despite controversies around social issues, Bresnahan remains focused on addressing real challenges facing Americans, like infrastructure and affordability, in his role as a congressman.
