Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Cases Revealed: Limited Qi2 Support Exposed

Qi2 has turned into a lot of disappointment as the magnetic standard continues to be mostly ignored, and Samsung also seems less than enthused as its official Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 cases continue to show that the company isn’t fully investing in the idea yet.

Samsung official Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 cases have leaked this week, with the Fold 7 cases initially being posted by NieuweMobiel, later being claimed as an “exclusive” by Android Headlines who also posted a batch of images of Flip 7 cases. The Fold 7 images posted by both publications appear largely identical, suggesting they may have come from the same (presumably retail) source.

In any case, these images show us a few things.

Firstly, they offer yet another look at just how incredibly thin the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is. Even in a case, it still looks way thinner than the prior generation when it wasn’t in a case. Samsung has silicone cases with and without an added grip loop for Fold 7, as well as a clear case and a “Carbon Shield” case. The AH post also shows an anti-reflective screen protector for the outer display.

Meanwhile, the Flip 7 leak shows faux leather and clear ring cases, with some adhesive bits still clearly in use.

But the real kicker in these leaks is that Samsung is only making a single magnetic case for both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Magnets don’t seem to be used on the rest of the lineup, despite these phones likely not having magnets built-in (which would be impressive given how thin they are), Samsung appears to be supporting the “Qi2 Ready” program as it did with the Galaxy S25 series. But, also like the Galaxy S25, Samsung is really not putting much into it with just one case in its official lineup supporting those accessories – and apparently a pretty bad case at that.

Samsung does seem to have an Apple-style magnetic charging puck accessory in the works, which seems odd given there’s only one compatible case.

What do you think of Samsung’s official Fold 7 and Flip 7 cases and the lack of wider Qi2 adoption? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

Samsung has reservations open now for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, with a $50 credit when you pre-order and up to $1,150+ in savings. Reservations are free, and there’s no obligation to actually buy a device if you sign up, but there’s no other time you can get that $50 credit (which can go towards Galaxy Watch 8), 3x reward points, and other perks.
