Ms. Bartoletti holds the esteemed role of Global Chief Privacy and AI Governance Officer at multinational IT company Wipro. She is also an advisor to the Council of Europe and a co-founder of the Women Leading in AI network.
Her primary concern lies in the lack of representation of women and individuals from the global South in the AI industry. Speaking to UN News at the 2024 Internet Governance Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ms. Bartoletti emphasized the importance of diversity in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

Ivana Bartoletti highlighted the fact that in Europe, only 28 per cent of those working in the AI industry are women. This lack of diversity can lead to inherent biases in AI products, affecting the global South as well. She stressed the need for more inclusive conversations and decision-making processes in the industry.
Addressing the issue of fair and transparent AI systems, Ms. Bartoletti reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts between governments, private sectors, tech companies, and civil society. She emphasized the need for ongoing conversations to prevent AI from worsening existing societal inequalities.
When it comes to ensuring safe use of technology amidst the spread of fake content, Ms. Bartoletti highlighted the significance of AI literacy and education. She emphasized that while education plays a crucial role, the ultimate responsibility lies with businesses and governments in regulating technology use.
