Since its establishment in 2015, the biennial Get off the Grid Fest has educated thousands of people about off-grid living and energy independence. The festival will include live performances by bands on two solar-powered stages and demonstrations on sustainable lifestyles to support and preserve the Earth’s ecosystems.

On Aug. 23-24, the Get Off the Grid Fest will come to Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro.  Musicians and groups at the festival will include Jim Lauderdale, Chuck Mead & His Grassy Knoll Boys, The Skeeters, Jess Goggans, Donna Hopkins, Natti Love Joys, The Mosier Bros, Dawn Loves Nash, Strung Like a Horse, Joel Forlines & Friends, Brian Ashley Jones, Mayhayley’s Grave, Cubanasong, Hair of the Dawg, Captive Eddies with Mike Rufo, Annie Sellick & Friends, Microwave Dave, Screamin Js and Impromptu Glorious Chorus with Elise Witt.

There will be a Solar Expo which will give attendees an interactive experience to learn about soar power and other renewable energy systems. A Sustainability Fair will give those in attendance the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops which include studies on health and wellness, regenerative agriculture, the environment, the arts and community.

Food and beverage vendors will also be at the festival and will comply with the festival’s zero-waste policy.

“I’m looking forward to this year’s Off the Grid Festival,” said Bill Fleming, musician and festival organizer. “We have a lot of really good bands lined up for the event and we’re going to teach people about off-the-grid lifestyles. It’s going to be educational and also a really good time. I can’t wait to come to Scottsboro for it.”

Tickets to attend the festival will cost $55.20 per person and will not include the cost of camping. Children under 15 can get in free with paid adult ticket-holders. Parking will be free. For tickets, please visit the festival’s website, getoffthegridfest.com. Those with questions about camping may contact Goose Pond Colony at (256) 912-0595 and ask for Candy.
