Great Britain will kick off their Davis Cup qualifying campaign by traveling to Japan, following the conclusion of the Australian Open.
Leon Smith’s team has been seeded 11th for the upcoming Davis Cup, with the Finals set to move from Spain to Italy in 2025 where the top eight nations will compete for the championship.
Britain were named the 11th seeds in the first-round draw on Monday, while Japan, as the unseeded team, gets to choose the court for the tie. The matches will take place over two days, either on January 31 and February 1 or February 1-2.
If Great Britain wants to advance to the Finals, they will need to go through two rounds of qualifying matches.
If they succeed against Japan, their next opponents will be Germany, who made it to the semi-finals in 2024, or Israel in the second round of qualifying.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed that Italy will host the Davis Cup Finals for the next three years, with Bologna being chosen to host the 2025 championship.
Italy will aim to defend their Davis Cup title for the third consecutive year as the competition shifts from Malaga, Spain to their home country.
