New This Summer: Game On! Science, Sports & Play

Game On! Science, Sports & Play is a brand-new, free exhibit that highlights the relationship between science, sports, and wellness. With over 25 interactive experiences, visitors can test their skills in baseball, basketball, swimming, board sports, yoga, and more—all while learning about the science behind performance and safety.

Returning Favorite: Dogs! A Science Tail

Back for a limited time, Dogs! A Science Tail explores the incredible ways dogs perceive the world. Through multisensory, interactive experiences, visitors gain new insight into the powerful bond between humans and their canine companions.

Must-See Exhibits (All Free!)

Ecosystems

Explore diverse habitats like the Kelp Forest, Rocky Shore, and Desert—featuring live animals, touch tanks, and diver Q&A sessions. Additional zones include Deep-Sea Vents, Poles, and the LA Zone.

World of Life

Hands-on exhibits in Life! Beginnings teach visitors about how living things grow and survive. Don’t miss BodyWorks Theater, where you’ll meet “Tess,” a 50-foot human body simulator brought to life with animatronics and special effects.

Fire! Science & Safety

Learn how to protect your home and family with hands-on exhibits about fire prevention, burn safety, and how to safely use a fire extinguisher.

Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear

This exciting exhibit offers interactive challenges that explore how and why we react to fear—from loud noises to falling—and the biology behind it all.

Endeavour Together: Parts and People

While the Space Shuttle Endeavour is temporarily off display, guests can explore its history through artifacts, video footage, and behind-the-scenes stories from the shuttle’s cross-city journey.

IMAX Theater: Four Films Now Showing

For an additional fee, catch these awe-inspiring films on the 7-story screen:

  • Superhuman Body 3D – Dive inside the human body and discover cutting-edge medical technology
  • Blue Whales 3D – Journey into the life of Earth’s largest animal
  • The Blue Angels 3D – Go behind the scenes with the Navy’s elite flight squad

The California Science Center also offers free virtual field trips for K–5th grade and a collection of safe, hands-on at-home science activities available online.

Located on the main floor, the ExploraStore features a wide variety of educational toys, apparel, and themed gifts—including plush dogs from Dogs! A Science Tail. Purchases help support the California Science Center Foundation, a nonprofit organization.
