Sony and Arrowhead Studios have revealed that they’re porting their incredibly popular co-op game Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S, due for release on 26th August 2025.
This is a full version of Helldivers 2, costing $40, and is published by PlayStation Publishing on Xbox Series X|S. It’s now available to pre-order on the Xbox Store. “A new dawn is upon us. Super Earth is expanding its operations and opening new enlistment centres,” said Arrowhead Studios in a tweet. It appears Nixxes is porting the game to Xbox Series X|S.
In a post on the Xbox Wire website, game director Mikael Eriksson said: “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years — and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”
Off the back of the game’s popular release last year, campaigns and petitions were actually set up by Xbox players to ask Arrowhead Studios to port Helldivers 2 to the system. Then, in October 2024, the developer’s community manager responded to a fan wishing they could receive support from Xbox players in the Super Earth fight.
“Who says [Helldivers 2] couldn’t [be ported to Xbox]? It’s not up to us but to Sony and Phil to duke out, but hypothetically speaking, if both partners think it would benefit them from a financial [and] brand standpoint, it could,” the community manager responded. It appears PlayStation and Xbox may well have had those conversations now — and achieved a positive result.
