ICE and DEA apprehend illegal immigrant criminals on peaceful Massachusetts island

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents in New England conducted a joint operation on Nantucket, Massachusetts, to apprehend “illegal criminal aliens” on Tuesday.

In a post on X, the DEA New England division mentioned that its agents supported ICE and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston in carrying out the arrests on the picturesque and upscale summer vacation destination island located 30 miles south of Cape Cod.

The Nantucket Current reported that the DEA verified it had detained a man previously accused of kidnapping and domestic assault and battery, along with a woman.

Officials did not disclose the suspects’ names or countries of origin.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the DEA for more information.

Speaking to the publication, the acting special agent in charge of the DEA’s New England Field Division only mentioned that they collaborated with their federal partners on immigration enforcement activities.

Additionally, the U.S. Coast Guard aided in the operation, transporting federal agents to and from Nantucket with a suspect in custody.

The Town of Nantucket stated in a press release that the Nantucket Police Department was informed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and DEA about their intentions to come to the island to serve an arrest warrant for a “violent offender.”

The federal agencies also enlisted the help of Nantucket police, leveraging their local knowledge of the area.

The department’s detective unit collaborated with federal agents in pinpointing requested addresses and furnished transportation for the DEA.

The DEA unveiled two images from the operation, showcasing DEA agents on a U.S. Coast Guard vessel with their backs to the camera in one image, while the other image displayed the two suspects in custody.

In September, ICE conducted a minimum of six arrests between Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard islands. These arrests were part of a broader operation to apprehend illegal immigrant suspects charged with serious crimes in the beach towns frequented by the Biden and Obama families.

One such arrest occurred on Sept. 10 when ICE ERO Boston arrested a 28-year-old Salvadoran undocumented immigrant named Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo, who faced charges of rape of a child with a 10-year age gap and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
