During Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, a top aide revealed that internal polls never suggested she would defeat President-elect Donald Trump, even though this information was not shared with high-dollar donors.
“That’s not what we were told,” DNC National Finance Committee member Lindy Li, a fundraiser for the Harris campaign, told Fox News Digital. “We were told she had a good chance of winning, with Pennsylvania and several swing states in her favor.”

“On election night, we were even hopeful about winning Iowa,” Li added.
Harris’s senior adviser David Plouffe, however, had a different take on the situation during an episode of “Pod Save America,” a show hosted by former President Obama’s staffers. “We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” he explained.

“It was surprising because public polls showed us with leads in late September and early October that we never witnessed,” Plouffe stated, revealing a different perspective on the outcome of the election.
Plouffe, joined by other top aides, discussed the reasons for Harris’s loss on the podcast.
Despite the campaign advisers’ awareness of Harris’s polling deficit, this information seemed to be kept from certain parties involved in fundraising, like Li.

Li stated that it is not normal for a campaign to withhold such information from donors. “I’ve been in this field for over a decade and this is absolutely not acceptable,” she emphasized.
She also expressed concern about regaining donors’ trust due to the discrepancy between the campaign’s messaging and the actual situation. “Casual donors may not believe us anymore,” Li added.
“It’s not just that she lost, but by how much she lost. It was a clear defeat,” Li concluded.

Harris had been competitive with Trump and even led him in several reputable polls, as Plouffe acknowledged in the podcast appearance.

“When Kamala Harris became the nominee, she was behind in the polls. We made progress, but even post-debate, we were still trailing in the battleground states, though closely. Towards the end, it was a tight race,” Plouffe explained.
