Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi tells Al Jazeera that Iran would ‘immediately and decisively’ respond to a US or Israeli attack.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any attack by Israel or the United States on Iran’s nuclear facilities would result in an “all-out war” in the region.
During an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic in Qatar, Araghchi stated that launching a military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities would be a grave mistake for the US.
Araghchi emphasized that Iran would retaliate swiftly and decisively to any attack, leading to a full-scale conflict in the region.
There are concerns in Iran that President Donald Trump may authorize Israel to strike Iran’s nuclear sites and impose further sanctions during his second term in office.
Araghchi also met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to discuss key regional issues, praising Qatar’s mediation role in achieving the Gaza ceasefire.
Furthermore, Araghchi met with Hamas officials in Qatar and highlighted the resilience of the Palestinian people amid the devastation caused by Israel’s recent conflict in Gaza.
He expressed support for the formation of an inclusive government in Syria post the removal of Bashar al-Assad, emphasizing the importance of stability and unity in the country.
In terms of Iranian-American relations, Araghchi stressed the need for practical steps to rebuild confidence, such as the return of frozen Iranian funds and direct dialogue focused on the nuclear issue.
