IRS Reminds Businesses: Tuesday Deadline to Keep Tax Account Access

Business Tax Account (BTA) designated officials must revalidate their accounts by Tuesday if they want to maintain access, the IRS said in a fact sheet posted Wednesday.

To revalidate, designated officials must log in to their BTA.

However, the above link includes an advisory that the system will be shut down Sunday from midnight to 11 a.m. ET for planned updates.

Those who do not revalidate their accounts by Tuesday will need to request access to the account again, either as a designated official or other user type. In that situation, applicants must provide a Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, for the most recent tax filing year or proof that they can legally bind an entity for tax purposes.

When all features have been added to the BTA site, those with accounts will be able to check their tax history, make payments, view notices, authorize powers of attorney, and conduct other business with the IRS.
