According to sources cited by Bloomberg, Apple is working on a new version of its voice assistant, Siri, that will be powered by advanced large language models (LLMs). This improved version of Siri aims to help Apple catch up in the AI field, where other companies like Google have already released more natural and conversational voice assistants such as Gemini Live.
The upcoming assistant is said to completely replace the current Siri interface and is expected to be launched in the spring of 2026. It is anticipated to offer a similar experience to OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode, while still retaining access to personal information and apps like the current Siri does.
In the meantime, Apple is relying on third-party providers to power advanced AI features on the iPhone. OpenAI’s ChatGPT is set to be integrated into Apple Intelligence starting in December, and discussions have been held with other AI providers such as Google and Anthropic for similar collaborations.
