Former child actor Jake Lloyd, best known for his role as young Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 film “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” recently shared a positive update on his mental health following a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
In an interview with “Star Wars: Timelines” co-author Clayton Sandell, now 35-year-old Lloyd and his mother Lisa Lloyd discussed his progress after completing an 18-month stay at a mental health facility in Southern California.
Lisa previously revealed to Sandell that Lloyd sought treatment after experiencing a “full-blown psychotic break” in March 2023.
Currently residing in a new rehabilitation center, Lloyd continues to receive treatment with the freedom to come and go as he pleases. During their conversation, Lloyd expressed feeling “pretty good.”
“I am now accepting ongoing treatment, therapy, and medication,” Lloyd stated. “Everyone has been very supportive.”

Additionally, Lisa disclosed to Sandell that Lloyd also has a neurological condition called anosognosia, where a patient is unaware of their neurological or psychiatric condition.
Lloyd referred to his medication as a “cushion” and prioritized stability over volatility in his mental health.
