Frank Grillo really didn’t wanna, didn’t really wanna taste it in the new Peacemaker opening credits.
The DC series is about to debut a new silly/serious dance sequence in season 2, and director James Gunn and the cast stopped by Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con video suite on Saturday before their Hall H panel, to roast Grillo for his performance in the credits.
“He is a terrible dancer,” Gunn says as everyone laughs. “But he was a trooper.”

“My knees were dying!” Grillo reveals.
Grillo joins season 2, reprising his role as Rick Flag Sr. from the animated series Creature Commandos, a.k.a. the father to the late Rick Flag, Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), who was killed by Peacemaker (John Cena) in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021). Grillo tells EW that he was not thrilled about having to film the opening credits dance, because he didn’t know about it when he signed on to the series.

“I was really against it because I’m a serious actor,” Grillo says. “And I was reluctant. And little by little, I became the best dancer out of everyone.”
When the rest of the cast immediately denies that fact, Grillo adds, “I thought so! But I had such a great time watching Tim Meadows suffer.”
Meadows also joins the show this season as foul-mouthed A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, and he reveals that he was actually worse than Grillo when it came to the opening credits dance.
“I was horrible,” Meadows says. “Everybody expected me to be good, and I don’t want to say why they expected me to be good, but I was horrible.”
As for who didn’t suck at the dance choreography? “Jen [Holland] is very good, and Freddie [Stroma] is very good,” Gunn reveals.

And don’t forget Eagley — Gunn previously told EW, “You get to see Eagly try to dance for the first time, so that’s really something. He is not the best at it, but he tries to really join in the dance sequence at the end. He’s got a little pose this time.”
Peacemaker finally returns with season 2 on Thursday, August 21, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, on HBO Max.
