Jose Altuve remains as the last position player from the infamous 2017 Astros squad post-Alex Bregman.

The most recent premier MLB free agent has recently signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Boston Red Sox. This player is former Houston Astros star third baseman Alex Bregman.

After this signing, All-Star Jose Altuve now stands as the last remaining position player from the 2017 World Series champion Astros. Lance McCullers, who has been dealing with elbow issues and hasn’t pitched since 2022, is the last remaining pitcher from that team.

The rest of Houston’s positional core post-2017 has seen some notable players move on:

SS Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa, a three-time All-Star, continued to excel with the Astros, leading the team through multiple successful seasons. He has since signed with the Minnesota Twins on a six-year, $200 million deal.

OF George Springer

George Springer, a key outfielder, joined the Toronto Blue Jays on a six-year, $150 million deal. Despite injuries affecting his performance, Springer remains a valuable player in the league.

1B Yuli Gurriel

Yuli Gurriel, a significant hitter for the Astros, has played for various teams since leaving Houston in 2022 and is currently a free agent.

OF Josh Reddick

Josh Reddick played out his contract with the Astros and then moved on to play with the Arizona Diamondbacks before retiring in 2021.

UT Marwin Gonzalez

Marwin Gonzalez has moved on to play for various teams following his time with the Astros, including the Twins, Red Sox, and Yankees.

Brian McCann played two seasons with the Astros followed by a season with the Braves before retiring in 2019.

OF/DH Carlos Beltran

Carlos Beltran served as a veteran mentor for the Astros before retiring from playing. He later took on advisory and managerial roles for other teams.

OF Jake Marisnick

Jake Marisnick played for the Astros until 2019 and has since played for multiple teams, with his last MLB appearance in 2023.
