Lake Erie Faces Turbulent Waters Due to Strong Winds

A beach hazards statement and small craft advisory are in effect across the Lake Erie shoreline.

Strong currents and dangerous swimming conditions expected at beaches of Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties through this evening. Residents are advised to stay out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions.

West winds to 30 knots and waves 6 to 9 feet are expected throughout today until 10 this evening.

Winds and/or waves will cause hazardous conditions that could capsize or damage small craft.
