Landlords using RentRedi now have access to Thumbtack’s vendor network to offer services

“The partnership connects RentRedi landlords, property managers, and tenants with Thumbtack’s network of 300,000 local service businesses for home repair, maintenance, and improvement projects,” according to a Dec. 18 statement.

The collaboration aims to provide flexibility for tenants and owners in rental properties.

Thumbtack’s mobile task scheduling and consumer-first real estate care solution complement RentRedi’s iOS and Android apps by delivering a consistent user experience for landlords and tenants.

A survey of 3,500 landlords using RentRedi found that “at least 80 percent of them plan to invest in home improvement projects for their rental properties” and “a little more than a quarter of respondents (28 percent) plan to invest in smaller projects costing between $1,500 and $4,999 per rental property.”

This is where Thumbtack excels.

In the announcement, Michael Kim, vice president of business development and commercial programs at Thumbtack, stated that their application will help landlords simplify the processes involved in handling and completing repair requests.

“We can help streamline every step of the property management journey, reducing a lot of the stress that comes with managing a home,” Kim said. “Our network of skilled home service pros can assist with TV mounting, house cleaning, landscaping, HVAC repairs, providing peace of mind for landlords and tenants alike.”

Inman reviewed RentRedi in 2023, highlighting its ease of use and per-property banking functionality.

“The software allows for detailed control of each property, enabling users to attach separate bank accounts to different properties, link leases to individual tenants in the same property, and handle maintenance requests per unit. This provides landlords with a clear way to manage repairs and expenses efficiently, a task that would be much more challenging with Excel or traditional methods,” the review noted.

Thumbtack launched a real estate-specific product in August to help consumers navigate the various tasks involved in buying and selling a home through their agents. The co-branded experience offers licensed professionals an intuitive workflow for task management, from moving company coordination to room renovation.

“Partnering with Thumbtack gives RentRedi landlords a simple way to find quality home service professionals for their projects,” said RentRedi co-founder and CEO Ryan Barone in a statement. “Tenants can also use the service to find painters, electricians, landscapers, and more to personalize their property and make it feel like home.”

The partnership also indicates a growing interest in property managers and landlords outsourcing maintenance operations to tenants, potentially impacting institutional multifamily owners looking to streamline operations and reduce overhead costs.

RentRedi also recently partnered with Lessen, a technology company focused on institutional property management, to offer maintenance coordination services to landlords and tenants.

Lessen’s rapid growth has earned it the No. 2 spot on Inc. 5000’s list of America’s fastest-growing companies, while RentRedi claimed the No. 180 spot, indicating a shift towards innovation in property management amid a challenging housing market.
